Mother’s Day 2016

Every year for Mother’s Day, I like to help the boys put together surprises for Kelly. And if you know me at all, then you know it usually involves a video and a theme. This year, the theme was centered around everything the boys are learning in school right now.

At the beginning of the year, they each received notebooks to help organize their schoolwork. These notebooks have become the central hub for all of their homework assignments. Flash cards, spelling tests, reading books. All of it goes in their notebooks.

So, I thought it would be fun to create a school notebook for Kelly as a Mother’s Day gift. Every aspect of the notebook is based on the actual materials that the boys bring home from school. The flash cards contain words that describe her. The spelling test mixes in some sentences and homework assignments. And the reading book is a story about her that was written and illustrated by us.

I have to say, my favorite part is probably the reading book that was illustrated by the boys. There is something about seeing their sweet little drawings that melts my heart. It seems like we have read countless numbers of books this year, so this time, it was nice to actually create the book instead. And of course, I love a happy ending.

Kelly is one of the most humble women I know, but she deserves all the love that our hearts can give. She is everything to us, and I don’t even know how to put into words all that she does for our family. Hopefully she was able to “learn” how much she means to us through this notebook. Class dismissed.
